Where Loom is ahead

  • Loom runs on Mac, Windows, iPhone, Android and as a Chrome extension.
  • It is woven into Atlassian: Jira and Confluence, plus Slack, GitHub and Gmail.
  • Its AI writes summaries, chapters and meeting notes, and turns recordings into Jira work items.
  • Team and company tools: workspaces, engagement analytics, SAML SSO, SCIM, activity logs and a choice of EU or US data storage.

Where catu is ahead

  • catu is a full capture app as well: scrolling screenshots, copying text from the screen, clipboard history and on-device dictation, free on the Mac.
  • One plan at €4,16 a month billed yearly covers unlimited recordings, passwords, expiring links and 100 GB. Loom's free plan stops at 25 videos of 5 minutes, and passwords start at $18 a person a month.
  • Anyone with a catu link can comment at a moment in the video by giving a name; on Loom's share page commenters sign in.
  • What you share is encrypted on your Mac before it is uploaded; Loom encrypts on its servers.
  • catu's video editor takes requests in plain words: cut a part, blur an email address, add captions, zoom in on each click.
  • Drawing on the screen while you record, a spotlight on the pointer and a live zoom are in the free Mac app; Loom's drawing tool needs a paid plan.

Questions

Which costs less?
