Your Library on the web

See, rename, copy and delete everything you have shared, with how often each clip was opened.

Your Library at catu.app/library holds everything you have shared from the Mac: every screenshot and recording, how often each was opened, and its link settings. It works in any browser, on any device.

The Library is part of the Web app plan. See Plans and billing.

Open your Library#

The quickest way is from your Mac: click the catu icon in the menu bar and choose “Go to Web Library…”. It opens in your browser, already signed in.

To sign in on another computer:

  1. Go to catu.app and click “Log in”.
  2. Click “Continue with Apple” and use the same Apple ID as in the Mac app. Or type your email and enter the 6-digit code catu sends you.
  3. Click “Library” at the top of the page.

On a phone, it is easier to scan a code from your Mac. See Link a phone or another browser.

If you chose “Hide My Email” when you signed in with Apple on the Mac, sign in on the web with “Continue with Apple” too. If you type your usual email address instead, you may end up in a different, empty account.

Find a clip#

The Library in grid view, with the storage bar at the top
Your Library: every clip you have shared.

The grid shows a thumbnail of each clip, with:

  • REC for a recording, with its length, or PNG for a screenshot;
  • a lock if the link has a password;
  • the title and the number of views;
  • whether the link expires, its size and the day you shared it.

Above the grid:

  • “Search captures…” finds clips by title.
  • “All”, “Recordings” and “Screenshots” filter by type.
  • The sort menu offers “Newest first”, “Oldest first”, “Largest first” and “Most viewed”.
  • The two buttons on the right switch between Grid view and List view. catu remembers your choice in that browser.
  1. Move the pointer over a clip in the grid.
  2. Click “Copy link” on its thumbnail.

A notice says “Link copied”. In list view, the button is called “Copy” and sits at the end of the row. On a phone or tablet, the button is always visible.

Open a clip#

Click a clip to open its page. There you can:

  • play the recording or see the picture;
  • click the title to rename it (see Rename a clip);
  • turn its link on or off with the “Live” or “Link off” tag (see Turn sharing off and on);
  • download it, see its “Details” (type, length, resolution, size, when you shared it, views and comments), or delete it, with the buttons at the top;
  • edit a recording with “Edit video” (see Edit a recording on the web), or mark up a picture with “Mark up” (see Mark up a picture on the web);
  • put Links on a recording, in the Links tab beside Comments (see Links on the video);
  • click “Share” to copy the link and change its password, expiry, comments and downloads (see Passwords, expiry and downloads);
  • see its views over 7, 30 or 90 days, and its comments on the right.

A recording can carry links to web pages: the docs you are showing, the page to sign up on, the ticket you are talking about. In the panel on the right, beside Comments and Transcript, is the Links tab: paste an address and click “Add”. catu fetches the page's title and icon and puts a button at the top right of the video. A recording can have three links; when their titles don't all fit, they are shortened, and every link stays on the video.

Click a link in the tab to open its settings:

  • Title: what the button says.
  • Show in the video: off, the link is kept but no button is drawn.
  • From and to: when the button shows (0:05 to 1:30); a new link shows for the whole recording.
  • Colour: black or white.
  • Show title: on, the button shows the site's icon and the title; off, the icon alone. New links show their title.
  • Remove.

Changes are saved a moment after you make them and play for everyone who opens the link; people who watch click a button to open its page in a new tab. The buttons are in the downloaded video too. In the editor they are drawn but not moved: they always sit in a row at the top right.

Rename a clip#

New clips are called “Screenshot” or “Recording”. A clear title helps you find them, and it is what people see on the clip page and in link previews.

  1. Open the clip.
  2. Click the title at the top.
  3. Type a new title and press Return.

A notice says “Title saved”. Press Escape to leave without saving.

Views and viewers#

A clip's page in the Library, with the views chart under the player
Views per day for the last 30 days.

The Views section on a clip's page shows how it is doing. Choose 7d, 30d or 90d for the period. You see:

  • the total number of views, ever;
  • the views in the period you chose;
  • the number of viewers: roughly how many different people opened it. Someone who comes back on another day may count again;
  • when it was last opened, or “not opened yet”;
  • a bar for each day (point at a bar for that day's views and viewers);
  • the countries the views came from.

Search engines and link previews don't count as views. Opening your own link at catu.app/v/… does count, but your Library page doesn't.

catu doesn't keep anyone's address. It keeps only the country, the kind of device, and a code that changes every day.

Delete a clip#

  1. Open the clip.
  2. At the bottom of the right-hand column, click “Delete”.
  3. Click “Delete” again in “Delete this clip?” to confirm, or “Cancel” to keep it.

The file is removed and the link stops working at once, for everyone. Its comments and views go with it. You return to your Library, which says “Clip deleted. The link no longer works.” This can't be undone.

The copy on your Mac is not touched.

Storage#

The bar at the top of your Library shows how much space your clips use, for example “1.2 GB of 100 GB”. Next to it are the number of captures, the total views and the total comments.

Each clip can be up to 2 GB. When your storage is full, the Mac app can't share any more until you delete some clips. Clips whose link expired still count, because they stay until you delete them.

If something doesn't work#

  • The Library is empty, but you have shared clips. You are probably signed in to a different account. Log out from the menu under your photo, then choose “Go to Web Library…” on your Mac.
  • “Sharing is part of the Web app plan.” Your Web app plan has ended. Your earlier clips stay in the Library until you delete them, but you can't share new ones. See Plans and billing.
  • “Some clips still need your Mac.” A few older clips need your Mac once. Choose “Go to Web Library…” from the catu menu and they appear.
  • A clip says “Shared before the Library” or “Opens from its original link”. It was shared with an early version of catu. It opens only from the link you copied at the time. You can still delete it.
  • A clip says “Could not open”. Reload the page. If it keeps happening, check your connection or try another browser.

Checked against the app on 29 October 2026.
