Plans and billing

What the free Mac app includes, what the Web app plan adds, how the trial works, and how to change or cancel your plan.

The Mac app is free, on your Mac. The Web app plan adds the cloud: storage, share links and instant file sharing, the Library, the video editor with AI, comments and view statistics.

Mac app and Web app plan#

Everything you do on your Mac is free, with no account. The Web app plan is everything that happens online. People you share with never need to pay, or even have an account, to watch and comment.

Prices#

  • Monthly: €4,99 a month.
  • Yearly: €49,90 a year. That is two months free, about €4,16 a month.

Tax is added where it applies, so the total you pay can depend on where you live. You see the full amount before you pay.

The Web app plan is bought only on catu.app, not in the Mac app. Once you have it, sharing from the Mac works straight away.

The 14-day free trial#

Your first Web app plan subscription starts with 14 days free.

  • You add a card when you start the trial. Nothing is charged yet.
  • When the 14 days end, your card is billed for the plan you chose, monthly or yearly.
  • Cancel before the trial ends and you pay nothing. You keep the plan until the last day of the trial.

The trial is for your first subscription only. If you had the plan before, a new subscription is billed from the start.

Get the Web app plan#

  1. Sign in on catu.app and click “Settings”.
  2. Find the Plan card.
  3. Click “Try free, then €4,99 a month” or “Try free, then €49,90 a year”. If you had the plan before, the buttons read “Monthly · €4,99” and “Yearly · €49,90”.
  4. Enter your card on the payment page. If you are buying for a business, you can add a VAT number there. If you have a promotion code, add it there too.
  5. Confirm. You come back to Settings, which says “Welcome to the Web app plan”. It can take a few seconds for the Plan card to show Web app.

Payments are handled by Stripe. catu never sees your full card number.

Check your plan#

The Plan card in Settings tells you where you are:

  • Web app plan trial: “Free until” a date, then it bills.
  • Web app plan: “Renews on” a date.
  • Cancelled: “Ends on” a date. You keep the Web app plan until then.
  • Payment failed: “The last payment failed; update your card to keep the Web app plan.”

Manage billing#

“Manage billing” on the Plan card opens your billing page, run by Stripe. There you can:

  • change your card;
  • switch between monthly and yearly;
  • see and download your invoices;
  • cancel the Web app plan.
  1. In Settings, find the Plan card.
  2. Click “Manage billing”.
  3. Make your change. Click the back link on the billing page to return to Settings.

Cancel the Web app plan#

  1. In Settings, click “Manage billing”.
  2. Choose to cancel your subscription and confirm.

The plan stays on until the end of the period you have paid for, or until the end of your trial. It does not renew after that. The Plan card shows the date it ends.

Changed your mind? Before that date, open “Manage billing” again and renew the subscription.

When the plan ends#

When the Web app plan ends, your account goes back to the free Mac app. Nothing you shared is deleted.

  • Your clips stay. Their links keep working, and people can still open them.
  • Your Library stays. You can still see, rename and delete your clips there.
  • You cannot share anything new. New uploads from the Mac are refused until you subscribe again.
  • Link expiry is capped. If you change the expiry of a clip without the plan, you can choose up to 30 days.

Your clips stay until you delete them, even after their link expires. To remove one for good, delete it in your Library.

If a payment fails, Stripe tries again for a few days and you keep the plan meanwhile. Update your card under “Manage billing”. If every try fails, your account goes back to the free Mac app as above.

Refunds#

As a consumer in the EU, you have a 14-day right of withdrawal. Because the plan starts as soon as you ask for it, a refund for a period that has already started is at our discretion. Write to us from the support page and we will be fair. The details are in the terms.

If something doesn't work#

  • The Plan card still says Mac app after you paid. It can take a few seconds. Reload Settings. If it still says Mac app after a minute, write to us from the support page.
  • “You are on the Web app plan already.” You already have a subscription. To switch between monthly and yearly, use “Manage billing”.
  • “Pricing is being updated” or “Payments are not available yet”. Payments are paused for a moment. Try again in a few minutes.
  • The Mac app says “Cloud sharing isn’t active on this catu account”. Your account has no Web app plan, or the Mac is signed in with a different account. Check the address under Settings › Sharing in the Mac app, and the Plan card on catu.app.
  • Your card was declined. Open “Manage billing” and add another card. You keep the plan while Stripe retries the payment for a few days.

Checked against the app on 29 October 2026.
